Pinckney is Coming

15Sep07

As was rumored about a week ago, Villanova assistant coach Ed Pinckney will be leaving the Wildcats to come on board as an assistant with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

This was first rumored by the Star Tribune, but then a Philadelphia newspaper shot it down saying that a source close to the situation said that the sides were in contact, but a deal was not done.

Now, we have our full coaching staff…

Pinckney, as I mentioned, was the assistant at Villanova. As you probably know, this is where Randy Foye played his college ball, and he played under Pinckney while he was there.

Also, there have been numerous NBA teams looking at him for two years according to reports, so to get him here is pretty great.

He will take over for assistant coach Rex Kalamian who left after taking a similar job with the Sacramento Kings.

Quick Thoughts:
– I like this move, he seems like a pretty good coach if other NBA teams have been trying to get him as well.

– The best part in my opinion is that fact that he coached Foye, which could make him more comfortable, and help the rest of the coaching staff coach Foye better knowing more about his style of play.
