Recap: Grizzlies and Hawks

Well, the Wolves have been back in the US for over a week now, and they are back to playing basketball after two straight games against the Grizzlies and the Hawks. The Wolves lost both games, and at times in each game looked absolutely horrible, but one good thing is that Jefferson is getting better, and this poor play came without some key guys in Telfair, Gomes and Foye.

In the first game against the Grizzlies, the Wolves put up a great first half scoring 31 points in the first quarter and 30 points in the second quarter. But when the second half hit, the Wolves took a giant step back. In the second half, they scored just 32 points with both quarters combined.

The good news from this game was that offensively, Big Al got involved. He scored a total of 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for the double-double. The other key players from this game were Mark Jaric (17 pts.), Davis (14 pts.), McCants (15 pts.) and Smith (12 pts.).

In their second game in as many days, the Wolves continued to get worse, and got thumped by the Hawks 103-77. In this game, the Wolves never really looked good expect for maybe the third quarter when they scored 28 points. However, in the fourth quarter, they were flat out embarrassing as they scored just seven points.

Instead of all of the negatives, lets think positive. Jefferson put up yet another great game, scoring 20 points to go along with yet another 15 rebounds. Smith and McCants both scored doubles digits again, but Davis and Jaric combined for just three total points. The one extra positive was Gerald Green as he scored 15 points.

So, the Wolves are now 1-3, but don’t panic yet. This is just preseason and Foye, Telfair and Gomes aren’t playing meaning the Wolves really have no point guard. If the injuries don’t slow down soon though, I might be start getting concerned.
