Pre-Season: Memphis Grizzlies

15Oct07
Game Time: 7:00 TV: None

The Wolves are 1-1 in preseason so far, but one game was against a team that they will probably never see again, and the other was a game that included a starting lineup without expected starters Al Jefferson and Randy Foye.

Now, the Wolves have returned to the US, gotten back on schedule, and will start a streak in which they will play four games in six days, all away from Minnesota. For the first two games, we’ll learn more about our new team, but we’ll also be missing out on valuable time as neither Foye or Telfair are expected to play in either of these games and possibly more

What To Watch For:
– Well, with no Randy Foye or Sebastian Telfair, we’ll be forced to probably start Marko Jaric at PG. This won’t help the team mesh any better as Jaric is unlikely to play point this season and might not even be here

– There are still some big things to watch for, and one of them is Al Jefferson. Watch to see if he gets more involved on offense. We know what he can do on defense, but so far we haven’t gotten him involved much on the other side.

– Watch to see if Ryan Gomes plays well again, and with the same energy as he has so far. Gomes should be a starter, and it’ll be interesting to see just how good he can be.

– Watch Randy Wittman’s different rotations, and more importantly where players play. Will Jefferson play some at center and give Smith and Gomes more time at the PF position? Who will play PG besides Jaric with Foye and Telfair out? It’ll be interesting to see what Wittman does.

– Finally, watch for the matchups that the Grizzlies provide. They have a young team just like us, and will put guys like Gasol, Gay, and Warrick up against our young players.
