Recap: Celtics 92, Wolves 81

10Oct07

Well, the much anticipated preseason game featuring the Wolves and Celtics is over after the Celtics knocked off the Wolves 92-81. I must say that I was a little disappointed in the overall game. No, not because we lost or because somebody did something wrong, but having a starting lineup of Telfair, Davis, Howard, Gomes and Ratliff kind of ruined the “Big Game” feel. I don’t have a problem with any of these players, but no Al or Foye took a little out of it.

We knew it was coming with the injuries we have, and it was probably the right decision for Wittman. Foye and Jefferson both entered eventually, and played pretty well. Some good news was that McCants, Jaric and Smith all saw time after being injured for the last contest.

As for Kevin, he played about 28 minutes, and didn’t put up a very big game at all. In those minutes, Garnett scored just 9 points and collected just 6 rebounds.

For the Wolves, Ricky Davis was the highlight. He scored a team high 18 points, and 12 of those points came from his 4 three pointers that he hit.

The rebounds were down from last game, but the Wolves did still out rebound the Celtics 37-33. Jefferson grabbed 6 of those while Smith lead the team with 7.

Telfair played pretty well, putting up 9 points for the Wolves and 3 assists as well. In his first game, McCants scored 11 points and had 4 rebounds. Some other notable players included Big Al who scored 5 points in 24 minutes, Green who scored 4 points in 10 minutes, and Gomes who scored 9 points in 20 minutes.

It was fun to get another shot to watch the new guys and get a better look at the team, and they did a lot of good things. Obviously, the numbers will go up with each player when the minutes do as well.

Make sure to get a better look at the stats with the Box Score.
