Injuries Mounting

09Oct07

When training camp started just over a week ago, Craig Smith was the only injury in camp with an ankle sprain. Now, the Wolves have started practices and even games, and the injuries are starting mount. In the first game, three key guys didn’t play because of injuries — Craig Smith, Marko Jaric and Rashad McCants.

On Tuesday, all three of these players practiced with the team, but the Wolves lost more players along the way. Al Jefferson, Sebastian Telfair and Gerald Green all exited practice with minor ankle sprains, and all remain up in the air for tomorrow’s game. None of the injuries appear serious, but nonetheless they are starting to add up.

In addition to these three new players, Ricky Davis did return to practice after yes, spraining his ankle on Monday.

Foye and Telfair
Coach Wittman has said that Randy Foye will get plenty of minutes at SG, because he doesn’t plan on Foye playing all of his minutes this season just at the point. Plus, with Telfair’s first outing, it might not be a bad idea to get him more minutes.

Also, on the Telfair front, people with the team say that while the team might not have been all that excited about him when they got him, they have been impressed by what he has done so far. And, they say that now they’re glad to have him.

Both of these updates are from Doogie at KFAN. You can check out more of his notes over at the message board.

[There will be a game thread for the Wolves and Celtics game. Remember that the game is on ESPN2.]
