More on Buckner

The Wolves received Greg Buckner in return for Trenton Hassel on Friday, and aside from everybody saying that he is a very similar player to Hassell, we don’t really know that much about him.

Greg Buckner is 31 years old, which is three years older than Hassell. His contract is one yer longer, but the last two seasons are reportedly not guaranteed, so he will probably be done when the option becomes available.

Buckner, like Hassell, is a big defensive guy, and is also a veteran with eight years of service. Last season, he started 11 games for the Mavericks, and played in 76 total games averaging nearly 20 minutes each outing.

In his total 76 games, Buckner put up averages of 4 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist per game.

While this trade isn’t a huge deal, it did allow the Wolves to sign second round draft pick Chris Richard, and also got them a pretty good defender in return.

Buckner is a Wolf today, but don’t be surprised either way — if he is bought out before Opening Day or if he remains a Wolf this season.
